Private Charters

Reserve IDA MAY for a professionally operated private outing on Oyster Bay Harbor. All charters are led by a licensed captain and experienced crew.

IDA MAY is a historic working oyster dredge operating as an educational and recreational vessel. Interpretive content about the vessel’s history is available by special request.

What to Expect

  • A safe, supervised on-the-water experience
  • Time underway on Oyster Bay Harbor
  • A welcoming environment for your group
  • Optional engagement with crew and harbor operations

Guests do not operate the vessel during charters.

Extended & Destination Charters

While many charters depart from Oyster Bay Harbor, IDA MAY may be available to travel beyond the harbor for extended excursions and special events.

Custom routes along the Long Island Sound — including select Connecticut ports and New York City — can be arranged based on scheduling, timing, and operational considerations.

Past destination charters have included waterfront events in Greenport, NY and Mamaroneck, demonstrating IDA MAY’s regional presence along the Long Island Sound.

Alternative departure locations and longer itineraries are available by request. Please inquire with your preferred destination, duration, and event details.

Private charters include exclusive use of IDA MAY for 2.5 hours, operated by a licensed captain and professional crew. Your group will enjoy time underway on Oyster Bay Harbor in a safe, supervised environment.

Additional time may be added based on availability.

2️⃣ How many guests can we bring?

IDA MAY can accommodate up to 44 passengers.

Final headcount must be confirmed prior to your sail.

3️⃣ What happens after we submit the form?

After submitting your charter request, a member of our team will follow up with availability, next steps, and payment information. A deposit may be required to secure your reservation.
